MANAGEMENT TEAM

Ken Stauffer, Co-Founder
Ken has spent 20+ years in the telecommunications industry. He began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ after receiving his Masters of Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University in New York City. Ken started as a Systems Engineer in the Data Services Performance Group where he and the team designed a system called Packet-ASPEN to measure performance in packet networks. He was also instrumental in establishing the Data Applications Labs to measure data application performance over various types of networks. Later Ken moved into International Operations Group to design and deploy AT&T’s Global Network Management Center in NYC, and then lived in Europe to deploy the Global Network Management Centers in England and the Netherlands along side a Pan-European Frame Relay network. For AT&T’s Global Strategy and Business Development Group he developed business and technical models for WORLDPARTNERS2, participated in the creation of CONCERT, the AT&T/BT Joint Venture, and managed the business relationship with Japan Telecom in Japan. Ken left AT&T in 2000 to become part of a management team creating EPIK Communications, a wholesale carriers’ carrier based in Orlando, Florida. He designed EPIK’s advanced services strategy, created both the Product Innovation Group and EPIK Labs, and implemented a suite of “enlightened” IP and Ethernet products. He later served as EPIK’s Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Technology Officer. He also led a team to create the vision for “The NAP of the Americas” and ensure it was implemented in Miami, Florida. In Jan 2003, Ken and Doug Peeples formed Technology Assurance Labs.

Ken is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), has been published in IEEE Communications Magazine and has been a speaker at Light Reading Conferences. However, Ken's most important accomplishment is his relationship with his wife, Carol, and his son, Kyle.

Shane Owens, Partner
Shane Owens has experience in both the technical and business-related aspects of designing, implementing, and managing networks. Shane was a founder and owner of DNA Communications where his role as Chief Technology Architect was to select the technology, architect and design the network, then install and manage the network and IP services. He brings additional expertise in advanced network development and communication systems through his work with the U.S. Air Force, MCI/Worldcom, and Global Systems. Prior to DNA Communications, Shane was Senior Manager of IP Engineering at EPIK Communications where he was responsible for the network architecture and services of an IP network which included a gateway to Latin American customers via the “NAP of the Americas”. Shane holds a Bachelors of Technology Management from DeVry University along with numerous vendors’ certifications.

Doug Peeples, Former Co-Founder
Doug Peeples and Ken Stauffer founded Technology Assurance Labs in March 2003. They met at EPIK Communications in 2000 and formed a wonderful working relationship and friendship. In May 2010, Doug passed away from cancer. His presence is missed, but his memory lives on in the Labs.
